Blackjack Crosses the Waves
Thanks to 18th century French colonists, the Vingt-et-Un made it to the shores of America and soon spread in popularity, though it was also adapted to look a lot more like the game we play today.
Throughout the 19th century, this new version of blackjack spread across America like wildfire, becoming a ‘go-to’ game in most taverns in the early 1800s, while during the 1820s it could be seen in the now legalised gambling halls of New Orleans.
Around this same time, a highly skilled French dealer who went by the name of Eleanor Dumont had emigrated to America and travelled around the United States, playing the game until she settled in Nevada City (California). There, she opened a gambling hall using the winnings that she had accumulated along the way and, perhaps fittingly, named the place ‘Vingt-et-Un’.
She became quite well known, and people came from all around the country just to try their skills against Eleanor - and invariably lost.

Objective of the game
Your aim is to beat the dealer by getting a count as close as possible to 21 without exceeding it.
Importance of card
When playing Blackjack the numeral cards 2 to 10 have face values, Jacks, Queens and Kings are valued at 10. Aces either have a value of 1 or 11. A starting hand of 21 is called a Blackjack or natural win and beats all hands other than another Blackjack. If both the player and dealer have Blackjack, the result is a push or tie. Neither the player nor the bank wins and the bet are returned to the player.

Play to strategy
Another tip when playing blackjack is to stick to the strategy chart. For example, surrendering your hand should be a rare occurrence and taking insurance is nearly always a bad idea.
It can be tempting to vary your choices during a game, but all good blackjack players know that playing to strategy will give you the best chance of winning in the long run.

Fourth Step: Revealing Cards
The last step of every hand requires the dealer to show their hole card and compare their hands to the player’s. The one who has a score closer to 21 (but not exceeding 21) is the winner. Those who exceeded 21 are said to “bust.” Dealers can also bust, and in that case, all players win.If both the dealer and the player have the same score, that is called a “push.” In that case, the bet is returned to the player.
Surrender
In this side rule player terminates its interest in the game by opting for half of the original bet. Players go with this rule when they have bad hands compared with the dealer. blackjack rules in some of the casinos have not made it applicable, when the dealer is having blackjack.
End of a Round
If the dealer goes over 21 (a ‘Bust’), all players who are still in the game win. If not, the players who have a higher point total than the dealer win, and those who have a lower point total lose. Players who have the same points as the dealer will get a Push as a result.
It is important to know that a blackjack is the strongest hand you can possibly have. It even beats other combinations that total to 21, as long as they consist of more than two cards.
This is how a typical game of blackjack goes. Now, let’s take a look at the side rules we mentioned earlier. They add several new dimensions to the game, making it much more fun and exciting.

Why does the RTP of Quantum Blackjack differ?
Good question.
The RTP differs as players have the option to place side bets. There are two side bets available when playing Quantum Blackjack which are ’21+3′ and ‘Perfect Pairs’. These side bets have quite a high house edge and so if you bet on them, it lowers the RTP of the game.
Here is a breakdown of the RTP based on different Quantum Blackjack bets:
- The theoretical percentage return to player (RTP) is 99.47% on the main game. (ie no side bets).
- The RTP on the Pairs side bets is 95.90%
- The RTP on the 21+3 side bet is 96.30%
Side Rules – Additional Player Actions
Those additional actions can be performed only once, and only after the initial deal. For example, you cannot double down after you have taken a third card. The side rules we will show you are the most common ones, and can be found at almost all blackjack games.

Standing on a Hand
Provided that a player is satisfied with their total, they can stand on their hand, i.e. decline drawing additional cards. It would be best to coordinate your standing choices with a basic strategy chart for optimal decision-making and play. Some rookie blackjack players are averse to hitting any total that exceeds 11 no matter what the dealer has in the hole because they are too afraid of breaking their hand (exceeding 21).
Of course, everyone is free to play out their hand as they wish, but I am still of the opinion the above-mentioned approach is idiotic. The tried and tested optional strategy requires you to stand on hard totals 12 through 18 when the dealer is in a weak spot showing a 4, a 5 or a 6.
When your dealer has up cards 7 through ace, you must hit hard totals 12 through 14 and surrender hard 16 against the dealer’s 9s, 10s, or aces. Keep in mind that these strategy decisions are valid for a 6-deck shoe game, where the dealer stands on all 17s, peeks for blackjacks, and double down is allowed after a split.
I will elaborate on basic strategy and its variations according to rule changes further on in this guide. For now, it will suffice to say you signal you want to stand with a sliding motion over your cards with your palm facing down.
Standard 52-card deck
The conventional 52-card deck of cards contains many high-value cards. Having more of these cards increases your chances of winning. However, the present deck does not contain any picture cards, which makes doubling down a bad idea. There are other ways to increase your odds, though. You can use a free bet option to place a bet on the dealer busting. Regardless of how many decks you play with, you will want to know your odds of winning before placing a bet.
Playing Free Bet Blackjack is quite similar to standard blackjack, but it features a different set of rules. For instance, Free Bet Blackjack uses a standard 52-card deck, and there are no jokers or tucks. A single deck has better payouts and allows for splitting and doubling down, which can help you increase your winnings. You can use the chips to play extra hands. When you win, you get back your original wager plus double it.
There are many different types of card decks used for the game, but a standard 52-card deck is the most common and most commonly used. Free bet blackjack has several different types of decks, but the standard 52-card deck is the best choice for this type of game. The five-suit deck is ideally suited for the game. Regardless of how you play, you should always choose the one that suits you.

Blackjack Table Hire - North Wales & Cheshire
Play Blackjack for FunBlackjack is one of the world’s most popular casino games. You won't realize it but you probably already know how to play. You may know it as ‘Pontoon’ or ‘21’. It is very simple and lots fun to play. Unlike Roulette, this game is played against the dealer. You must beat the total of his cards to win.
Our luxury Blackjack tables, like Roulette, are an equally popular choice for hire. The two fun casino tables are perfect when hired together as they are the most commonly played casino games all over the world. Enjoy the challenge of the Blackjack table, its unpredictability, the highs and lows and the 'run' of good and bad cards that make excitement of the game. When your 'streak' of good or bad luck has peaked, simply move over to try your luck at our Roulette table. Relax and play whilst chatting amongst friends or familly, its a fun game to be enjoyed leisurely.
How to play Blackjack? In Blackjack you recieve two cards. You can 'stay' on the total of these two cards or 'twist' and take cards to try and get as close to 21 as possible. If you take more cards and go over 21, you 'bust' and lose. After all players have made their decisions the dealer will reveal his two cards. If the dealer has 17 or higher he can not take anymore cards and this is his total. If he has 16 or less he must take more cards to get to 17 or higher. When the dealer goes over 21, or goes 'bust' everyone wins. You only have to beat the dealer's hand not each other's.
How to play our Fun Casino Blackjack TablesFirst, place a bet onto the Blackjack table into the square or circular box in front of you. There is always a minimum amount you are allowed to place and of course a maximum bet. You, and everyone playing, will now be dealt two cards face up. The total of your two cards is your starting point. The croupier receives one card also face up so you can see it.
As an example, if you have an 8 and a 6 your total ‘hand’ is 14. You now have to decide whether you take another card ‘to hit’ or to stand ‘stick’. Your aim is to get to 21 without going over otherwise known as ‘busting’. If you hit on your 14 and receive a 10 then you now have 24, this is ‘too many’ and therefore you lose instantly. If you hit and get a 4 you now have 18. This would be considered a good hand and so there is no need to take any more cards.
After each of the players at the blackjack table have 'hit' or 'stood' on their 'hand' the croupier will then take his cards. If he gets to 17 or higher he must stop, he will take no more cards.
If the dealer has 16 or less he must take more cards and hit again. If the dealer takes more cards and he now has 18, anyone with less than 18 loses. If you have more, you win. If you have 18, the same, it’s a 'push' you don’t win or lose – you just keep your bet. The same goes for the rest of the players.
If the croupier takes more cards and goes over 21 then everyone at the table wins regardless of their total. If you receive a 'Blackjack' this means any Ace with any 10 value card such as a King, Queen, or Jack, you cannot lose. You will get paid 3 to 2 odds. Unfortunately if the croupier also gets 'Blackjack' it’s a 'push'.
Blackjack RulesHit: Or 'Twist' means to take another card. A player should tap on the table with his/her hand to signal to the dealer/croupier that you would like another card.Stand: You wish to take no more cards, also called "stick" or "stay". As a player you must wave a flat hand side to side (horizontally) to signal you do not want any more cards.Push: You don’t win and you don’t lose.Draw: To take cards from the shoe.Shoe: A plastic rack that hold 6-8 decks of cards and from where the dealer pulls the cards.Double down: After receiving your first two cards, a player has the option to "double down". This means to put more money behind your original bet (you have £5 and then you place another £5 behind) but you only receive one more card.Split: If you have two cards of the same value, for example two 8’s you can 'split' and make two new 'hands' by placing another equal bet on the table. (your original bet is £5 you add another £5 to the table). You play these two hands as you would normally i.e 'hit' and take more cards or 'stay'/'stand'. Of course you will take more cards on the 8 but at what total you stop is your decision.

Why is the Blackjack Ball a secret event?
At the Blackjack Ball, the best players from around the world share their success stories and tips for beating the house. So, if the event was attended by a casino employee, for example, they would learn how these game-changing players were able to maximise their advantage, and it might even lead to a change in the rules etc.
As a consequence, the location, time and date of the Blackjack Ball are kept as a sworn secret, while security staff are employed to check attendees for recording devices and so on.
Each invitee has to ‘donate' two things to the Blackjack Ball:
- A bottle of chilled premium champagne
- A $100 levy which is used to pay towards expenses and fund the Calcutta pool
Failure to do so results in refusal of entry and being placed on the barred list. The Calcutta is a pari-mutuel betting pool in which attendees bet on who they believe will win the 'World's Greatest Blackjack Player' competition.
Incredibly, the Blackjack Ball is sponsored by the Barona Casino in San Diego, but on one condition: players in attendance have to agree that they will never play blackjack at the Barona!
The casino also offers lifetime complimentary entry to Blackjack Hall of Famers, which includes accommodation, meals and drinks, again on the proviso of never setting foot on the gaming floor.
PLAYING STRATEGY
As you would expect, the basic playing strategy for Blackjack Switch is slightly different from the conventional basic playing strategy because of the dealer 22 push rule. For example, you will be doubling and splitting less often, and there will be more hands where it is correct to hit at the risk of breaking.
Here are some sample hands that show the differences in strategy.
You can obtain the complete basic playing strategy for Blackjack Switch on these sites: www.blackjackforumonline.com, www.wizardofodds.com, and www.discountgambling.net.
There is also a playing strategy for this game in the book The Big Book of Blackjack.
What you need to remember is that you shouldn't use the conventional basic strategy when you play this game; instead, you need to follow the basic strategy that is specific to Blackjack Switch. It's not any more complicated, just slightly different.
