A Curacao-licensed online casino operator left sensitive player information unprotected which led to a leaking of this information, discovered security researcher Justin Paine according to Mondays’ reports on ZDNet.

The data leak was made possible by the ElasticSearch server that hadn’t been secured with password protection. The information that was inappropriately released not only included player’s personal details but also information regarding transactions that took place for an upward of 108 million bets that were placed on the website owned by the online casino group.

Mr. Paine informed ZDNet that he’d discovered the unprotected server last week and that it didn’t require authentication in order to protect the information it contained. The security researcher was quite certain that the server featured information about online gambling operations.
