Blackjack and Blackjack Rules
If you receive an ace and a ten-value card as your first two cards, you have Blackjack and win 1.5 times your bet (if your bet was $10, you receive $25). If the total value of your cards is closer to 21 than the dealer's, you win your bet amount (if your bet was $10, you receive $20). If the total of your cards is more than 21, you bust and lose your bet. If you and the dealer have the same card total (17 and up) neither of you win and your bet is returned to you in a push. Blackjack beats a score of 21.
Online Blackjack game follows the standard Las Vegas Strip rules, with the following exceptions:
- After each round, used cards are returned to the deck and the deck is shuffled.
- The player may not split a split hand.
- Only one card is drawn to split aces.
- The player may double after splitting.
- The dealer will not check for Blackjack in any case.
- If the player doubles and the dealer's first card is of value 11 (ACE), and the dealer gets Blackjack, the player loses both his bets. If the dealer's first card is of value 10, and the dealer gets Blackjack, the player gets the Double bet back.
6. Can I become rich playing blackjack?
It is unlikely. Another common misconception is that you can get rich by playing blackjack. Sure, there are hundreds if not thousands of professional gamblers in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, and most of these players are making a tidy profit or breaking even. Even if you play perfect blackjack, and reduce the house advantage to almost nothing, chance will still play a big part in how much you win or lose. It's not to say that it is impossible, because every casino has an amazing story about how some guy went from 500 to a million in one night. So, focus on making a profit in the short run, and remember that there will be swings in your bankroll.
Insurance
The insurance option allows you to take an additional wager, known as the ‘insurance’ bet, if you the dealer’s first card is an Ace. When that happens, the probability of the dealer’s “hole” card being worth a score of 10 is high meaning they have blackjack, hence the insurance bet being offered.
9. What should I do if the pitboss is watching my play?
If the quality or your level of play has attracted the attention of a pitboss, just keep playing as you are. Don't be nervous or start thinking that you are about to be escorted into the casino's dungeon where henchmen will 'get medieval' on you. That might have happened back in the 1970s, but you probably won't see that level of security today - at least not within 50 miles of Vegas. If the dealer or pitboss makes any comments about your play, just attribute them to luck. Anybody can have a hot streak. Usually, dealers are on the player's side. They enjoy seeing a player win big. This is partly due to the possibility that they may get a good tip from a player who has made out well. If you are winning and plan to cash out soon, toss the fellow or lady on the other side a token of your appreciation - if the quality of service warrants it.
If the pitboss makes further inquires about whether or not you know how to play blackjack, just tell him that you got a basic strategy card from the gift shop. The worst that can happen is that they ask you to stop playing and maybe even to leave. If that happens, so what? It means you are good enough or lucky enough to make them not want to give up any more winnings to you. There are always plenty of other casinos so don't be afraid to use your knowledge to help your play.

What is a responsible gambler?
A responsible gambler is someone who:
- Establishes time and monetary limits before playing
- Only gambles with money they can afford to lose
- Never chase their losses
- Doesn’t gamble if they’re upset, angry or depressed
- Gamcare- www.gamcare.org.uk
- Gamble Aware - www.begambleaware.org
Never Bust Blackjack
This variant is quite rare, but one Blackjack expert reports seeing it Planet Hollywood in Last Vegas a few years ago where 8 decks are played and Blackjack pays 6-5. In addition, in the UK Never Bust Blackjack is a popular variant if you can find a casino that plays these rules.
It is very similar to Casino War because the card that busts either the player or dealer hand is always discarded. This means that the player or dealer can never go bust; hence the name, Never Bust Blackjack.
In addition, players don’t have to make any decisions for themselves apart from how much to bet.
- Blackjack odds can vary from 6-5 or 3-2
- Player and dealer continue to hit until their hand reaches 17 or higher
- Both the player and dealer must hit a soft 17
- There are no double downs or splits permitted
- If either the player or dealer hand goes bust, the card that made the hand bust is removed. No more cards will be dealt, and the remaining cards will determine the end score for that hand. For example, if a player hit on 15 and gets a Jack, the Jack is removed and the hand is counted as a 15 score
- If the dealer’s hand scores 15, then this is a push
- Insurance bets are paid back at 2-1
PLAYING RULES
The playing rules are:
You’ll find Super Fun 21 played mostly with a single-deck of cards (another appeal to players), although double- and multi-deck versions are offered in some casinos.
You might be thinking that with all these liberal rules, this game must be good to play. There is a catch, however.
21st century blackjack
Developed as a solution to California’s ban on blackjack and other card games in 1860, this game is played with between two and eight decks of cards and uses the joker as a wildcard. The aim is to get a score of 22 (or as close to it as possible) and players make up to three bets during the course of each hand, with players allowed to bet on each other’s scores as well as their own.
How To Play Blackjack At An Online Casino?
Blackjack games within online casinos will offer the same basic gameplay and versions you may be familiar with from land based casinos.
To start, you should determine which online casinos are operating legally within your state. Also, check if they are regulated by international gambling authorities as well. You must be of legal gambling age within your state. Check what the age cutoff is if you are not sure.
Conduct further research into the quality of legal gambling sites available to help you decide which are risky or not. You may also want to check out what other games the websites you are interested in have available. You might like to have options for different versions of blackjack or different games altogether.
Once you have chosen a website (or app, since apps are another online gambling option growing in popularity), follow whatever links are displayed to register with the site. After completing the initial registration, you may have several options to select from for payment methods. You could enter your banking or card information directly within the gambling website, but some sites will offer you alternatives like PayPal or e-wallets. These might present a more secure route to deposit and withdraw funds.
Next step is to find a blackjack table where you can sit and finally to start betting.
Besides digital blackjack, keep in mind that live online games exist. In this scenario, you can watch and interact with a live blackjack dealer in real-time through an online portal.
Side Bet Bonus Blackjack Games
There are so many side bets in Blackjack these days. Mostly they add fun to the game with the additional chance to win a little bit more cash. Most of the time the house has a considerable edge on the side bets; hence, you will never see a card counter place bets on any side bets offered.
Side betting is very prevalent in the online casinos as virtual technology allows for the inclusion of side bets very easily; whereas, on the brick and mortar casino scene side bets are not overly common. That is obviously aside from the aforementioned Blackjack Lucky 13s game.
Where can I find plenty of side bet and a variant of Blackjack games?
One of the most diverse Blackjack games out there right now is an online version created by Microgaming called Premier Blackjack where there are 4 different tables to play. You literally open the game and have the choice to play on any of the below tables.
Switching Tables
During game play you can decide to change tables at any time. An option of 4 different game styles will be presented. Each game has 4 different table styles to choose from just to keep things interesting and fresh. You then instantly swap tables without having to close the game and selecting a new table.

- Bet total 13 as the total of the first 2 cards = 10 to 1
- Optional side bet

- Ace always counts as 1
With so many variants does basic strategy become confusing?
All basic strategy does is tell you as the player what your optimal move is mathematically in a certain situation. However, where it does become a little confusing is when you have to memorise a new basic strategy chart because you are swapping between games.
If you want to play Blackjack, the trick is to learn the basic strategy that goes with the game that you play most often. Pretty obvious stuff! Once you have all the moves down and memorised, you can then start switching between variants learning where the basic strategy changes are quite quickly.
Most of the time, only a few simple changes are made to the way the player should act. This can definitely begin to get confusing when you know so many basic strategy tables and switch between games a lot. This is something card counters have had to do because they tend to play in different casinos not drawing too much attention themselves by winning consistently at any 1 casino.
European Blackjack has UK and global versions
In the past when you play European Blackjack in the UK, splits on 4s, 5s or 10s were not allowed on European Blackjack tables. Saying that, this rule has now changed and UK casino cannot enforce this rule any longer. Nonetheless, when it was in action, it changed the way players would play their basic strategy, and thus this became confusing for some players.
Dealer stands on soft 17 or dealer hits on soft 17
Here is an example of how basic strategy still changes using today’s current Blackjack rules. On some tables a dealer will stand on soft 17
Soft 17 combinations:
- A-6
- 8-9
- 10-7, J-7, Q-7, K-7
