Payout & Betting Rules
It is important to consider maximum payouts; even if you only ever bet low stakes you can still run the risk of hitting them. Some markets and lines can have much lower limits than others, and this is particularly important when placing large multiple bets that can have really high odds. Always check the payout limits for markets if placing large bets, bets with high odds or bets on less common markets and lines.
The terms are incredibly dense at 888 so finding the payout limit is no easy feat, even the support team struggled with it when I contacted them. What is clear is that 888 reserves the right to cap any payout at £250,000 so bear that in mind. This is the highest figure I could find mentioned in the terms and since the support team were unable to help further I have to assume that £250k is the cap.
Football
£250,000
Horse Racing
£100,000
Greyhound Racing
£25000
Tennis
£150,000
Golf
£100,000
Rugby
£100,000
Cricket
£100,000
Snooker
£100,000
Darts
£100,000
Formula 1
£50,000
Virtuals
£10000
eSports
£40000
That is much lower than many other online bookies who go up to £1 million or more. Most major sports at 888 will not be less than £100,000 and the lowest cap is £10,000 for outright specials such as ‘next manager’ etc.
The minimum bet amount is clear and stated at £0.10, maximum bets are less clear. 888 more than other bookies set their limits quite low and will then manually review your bet each time for larger stakes. This lack of clarity really can annoy you as a punter. 888 do not offer telephone betting either.
If you want to place high stakes bets or bets with high odds at 888 I would contact them first and hope you get a team member who knows what they are talking about…
Sports List
Market range and depth are very good with 888 Sport.
They have been in the business long enough to know what range their UK customers want.
The international pedigree shines through too with some markets available that are hard to bet on elsewhere such as floorball, surfing, and trotting.
More popular sports such as football enjoy global coverage that explores even the minor leagues and reserve teams, while American sports - especially basketball and ice hockey - are also well stocked.
Rugby league and Aussie rules are two other sports with a healthy roster of available fixtures.
Pre-event and in play markets are as big as you would expect from a bookie of this size with well over 100 lines available for a typical European football game, and over 340+ for top flight UK fixtures.
I don’t think I have seen anyone else get as high as that and 888 push consistently in other sports categories too, although tennis seems to have been given the cold shoulder for some reason.
Non-sport and specials markets are a little hit and miss. UK and International politics are covered to a basic level as are entertainment awards and TV specials, but in general this is more of a sportsbook.
You are unlikely to find any comedy bets here.
Specials markets within sports, such as predicting next managers, transfers, etc, are well covered however.

Style of the Site
When it comes to their look and interface, 888 are one of those love / hate bookies. The bright orange colour scheme is synonymous with all 888 Sport products and goes some way towards explaining their shouty casino style reputation. To their credit though the flashy graphics and distractions have been kept to a minimum, with most offers and adverts being contained to the appropriate section of the site.
There is a professional feel to all of 888’s features in spite of the slightly obnoxious colour scheme. The brand previously used a third party platform provided by Kambi but developed their own in house platform in 2021. This brings them in line with other big betting companies and the bespoke interface makes for a much better site. Quick links on the home page display popular events, main events of the day are scattered across the remaining screen space and top offers are clear.
The sports list is easy to use, although they have chosen to list a handful of popular sports at the top before listing the rest A-Z which is momentarily confusing. They do all show the current number of available events though, so you are made instantly aware of any busy markets.
Accessing live scores, results and stats is done via the grandly titled Players Lounge, which is a thorough detailed betting aid that is great to use especially alongside live betting. The blog/news section accompanies this feature nicely.

888 Sport Markets & Odds
Having existed since the year dot in online gambling terms, 888 have a very good idea of what events and markets their customers want, and they provide these in abundance. A solid list of 30+ sports covers all of the usual suspects as well as a few lesser spotted options such as Cyclo-Cross, Chess, and Trotting.
Football is streets ahead of the rest when it comes to range and depth of markets, while Ice Hockey and Basketball also prove popular. In general, though, any mid-level event will be available to bet on providing they cover the sport in the first place, and even local football matches should have a good 25+ lines available; big games, on the other hand, can get close to 300, so you can bet on practically every kick of the ball and get really creative with your acca’s.
We didn’t see much in the way of specials (Next Manager to Quit, for example) but there are a few novelty and entertainment bets thrown in for good measure, although this isn’t their forte. The stats tool could come in extremely handy, though, as it goes into a ridiculous amount of detail – you could get lost for days in there.
The odds available are safe enough, your mates aren’t going to laugh at you, but to get the best value you should try and combine them with some of the offers where possible. Enhanced odds are a regular occurrence and as you would expect from a bookie of this size Best Odds Guaranteed is available on UK and Irish Horse Racing. You can also bet on ante-post races from as far afield as South Africa and the USA.

Walcott happy with Arsenal’s spirit
January 3, 2021 - 20:41
Theo Walcott thinks the Arsenal squad is getting stronger with every game as they maintain their push for a first Premier League title in a decade. The Gunners went unbeaten in the 2003-04 campaign when they last won the title and have never finished lower than fourth since. However, it …
American Revolution
While the game the world knows as poker didn’t arrive until the early 19th Century (nice opportunity to know more poker history, by the way), Americans gambled throughout colonial times. It was a carryover from the popularity of wagering throughout Europe.
That included card games like piquet, whist, faro, and others. These stand in contrast to what many considered to be early Puritan sensibilities.
“In fact, gambling, whether at cards, dice, backgammon, or billiards, became a hallmark of elite Virginian culture,” author David Schwartz writes in Roll the Bones: The History of Gambling. |
The author tells the story of a French visitor to Virginia in 1686 who observed his host’s continual penchant for gambling. The visitor noted that his host got the card game up and running immediately after dinner, something he found strange.
“By midnight, when the traveller’s impatience was finally noticed by one of the absorbed card players, he was advised to retire to bed, as the game was just getting good,” Schwartz writes. “The next morning, the Frenchmen awoke to find the gentlemen still intent at their game.” |
By the time war broke out in 1775 between the American colonies and Britain, it’s a good bet at least some young soldiers were fans of gambling on card games.
Even General George Washington was known as a regular gambler and kept a complete record of his wins and losses at the card table.
But during the war Washington, asked his troops to leave the gambling behind and focus on the nation’s freedom. He once even described gambling as “the child of avarice, the brother of iniquity, and the father of mischief.”
While gambling among troops probably continued to some degree among soldiers, many may not have actually had the cash to play. Washington regularly had to beg Congress to pay his soldiers.
By November 1781, British blockades of American trade and the inability to secure more loans from France meant Congress could not to pay troops.
The Treaty of Paris was signed in 1783, ending the war and making the U.S. an independent country. Even Washington, who would soon be the young nation’s first president, was astonished at the result.
Like hitting a two-outer on the river, he considered the young country’s victory over such a dominant power “little short of a standing miracle.”
Paddy Power Poker Mobile
The Paddy Power Poker Mobile App allows iPad, iPhone and Android users to access many of the same features that are available on the Paddy Power Poker PC client. You can play in cash games, online poker tournaments, Sit & Gos and take your shot at Twister Poker.
When you play on the Paddy Power Poker App, you will earn Paddy Power Poker Points just like your would for PC client play. You can even deposit and withdraw funds from your online poker account directly from the app.
Due to restrictions at the Google Play store, the Paddy Power Poker Android App is only available from download directly from the Paddy Power Poker website. The iOS version of the app is also available at the Apple Store.
Youtube Account
This is great fun and fantastic for engagement, and they often embed videos from their channel into their blog, too.
Super fans from opposing teams are brought into the studio to talk about current events or hypothetical situations, often with hilarious results. You will also hear the opinions of ex-pros on various aspects of the game.
Away from football there have been interviews and coverage from the Cheltenham Festival as well as an impressionist sending up famous folk from the sport world.
It’s a real mixed bag but it’s all interesting stuff.
Some of the Best Food in the World
That said, even Nitsche has to eat, and he does have a preference.
“Vegas has some of the best sushi restaurants in the world,” he stated citing Yui Kabuto as his favourite. “I just wish I had more time to go.”
He also likes Lamai for Thai food, Partage for French cuisine, and Sparrow + Wolf for international modern. Other dishes he enjoys are ramen, tapas, hot and juicy crawfish, and the Oyster Bar at Palace Station.
So, how does Nitsche get from place to place while in Vegas?
“Uber,” he said. “I used to rent a car, but if you stay on the Strip, I don't think it's necessary really.”
While he prefers to stay on the Strip, Nitsche also encourages first-timers as well as 888poker qualifiers, to venture out.
“Explore off-Strip Vegas. Especially food and restaurants are just much better off strip. Cheaper too.”
For more on Nitsche and his poker adventures, be sure to follow him on both Twitter and Instagram @DominikNitsche.
Banking
Banking Method | Max/Min Deposit | Max/Min Withdrawal | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Debit Card | £10 | £3 | Up to 8 days |
PayPal | £10 | £3 | 4-5 Days |
Neteller | £10 | £3 | 4-5 Days |
Skrill | £10 | £3 | 4-5 Days |
Paysafecard | £10 | N/A | No Withdrawal |
Bank Transfer | £10 | £10 | 7-10 Days |
You can fund your 888 account from seemingly every payment method ever created, we hadn’t even heard of some of the options. Oddly enough Paysafecard was absent from the list but other prepaid cards were available if that is your thing.
Usually, withdrawals will have to be made via the method the deposit came from, but you can withdraw as little as £3 and there are no maximums stated. Daily/weekly/monthly limits may well apply, but if you have a big win just get in touch with them, they are a big enough company to be able to work something out so you get your money quicker.
The bad news is that processing times are much too slow and you can cancel withdrawals up to 24 hours after requesting them too which doesn’t sit right with us. 888 need to look at this again. They do so well in almost every other aspect but banking severely lets them down.

What a fantastic day Travis “DramaticDegen” Darroch of Team Online fame enjoyed on November 17th. The popular Canadian had no idea he would be padding his bankroll with six-figures when he logged into his partypoker account and began another Twitch stream.
Darroch had secured his place in this week’s $1 million guaranteed partypoker MILLION via a $22 buy-in satellite. These satellites run around the clock and represent superb value. Darroch played his way through to the final day’s action and this is where the magic happened.
The field of 4,472 entrants had been reduced to the final table of eight and each of the finalists locked up at last $9,490 for their effort. This was already a great return for Darroch whose $22 was now worth more than 430-times its initial value!
“SicuitPegoraro” busted in eighth-place before “lkjhfdswnv” lost their chips and fell in seventh, a finish worth $14,710. They were joined on the sidelines by “nicolasmajda888” who banked $20,890 before “eddyrock” ran out of steam and fell in sixth-place for a $30,750 addition to their bankroll.
A cool $44,740 went to “Ingracia_dinha” who was eliminated in fourth place. This exit sparked some interest of a deal among the remaining three players, Darroch being among them. The deal discussion proved fruitful and brought an end to this week’s $1 million guaranteed affair.
When the dust settled, Darroch had finished in third-place and turned his $22 satellite ticket into a colossal $106,308 all why streaming his play live on his Twitch channel! An absolutely incredible result.
Special mentions, obviously, have to go to “theteacheray” who finished in second for $107,915 and to our worthy champion “vem kikando” whose victory secured them a $114,876 payout.
Midnight Shadow bids for better
Sue Smith’s Midnight Shadow was second behind runaway winner Chatham Street Lad in this contest 12 months ago (when rated 6lb lower) and returns for another crack having bagged his second chase win here over pretty much the same 2m 4½f trip as last month’s Paddy Power Gold Cup.
He had a few of these behind in that contest and last weekend’s Aintree Grade 2 rout from Paddy Power runner-up Protektorat certainly put a positive spin on that form.
Midnight Shadow has gone up 7lb for the win but he idled a bit in front and his excellent record at this venue ensures he is high on any shortlist.
Lalor (third), Dostal Phil (fourth) and Zanza (sixth) will all be hoping to get closer to him this time.
That was Lalor's first run since a wind operation and also his first appearance since joining champion trainer Paul Nicholls in the summer. The Ditcheat supremo is bullish that his charge will improve markedly for that run.
Meanwhile, both Dostal Phil and Zanza did their best work late on from unpromising positions last month. The stiffer nature of the New Course, therefore, gives them hope this will be the sort of test at which they can excel.
Cash Out
One feature that is fast becoming expected these days is cash out. It’s not available on everything but will be clearly indicated with a green button when it is.
Cashing out is all about controlling your bet, and allowing the bettor to react to the events of a game. This has another effect of making the bet more exciting and therefore increasing entertainment value.
You might put £10 on your selection only to decide mid-game that you no longer think they are going to win. You could cash out (settle the bet early based on the current situation) and get some of your stake back. It works the other way, too. If your selection was doing well you could cash out and take a guaranteed, albeit smaller, profit rather than wait it out and potentially see the tables turn.
Note: 888 will only allow you to cash out once the event has started. Some bookies let you do this pre-match which can be useful if your prediction is based on a specific player and it comes to your attention that he is injured before the game, for example.
But not everyone agrees
The Gibraltar Betting and Gaming Association (GBGA) have a UK High Court date of Sep 23-24 penciled into their diaries as they continue to argue that the new regulations are nothing more than a set of smoke and mirrors to deflect from what is quite obviously a way of drawing taxation into the UK government coffers.
The GBGA has the likes of 32Red, 888 Holdings, Bet365, Betfair, bwin-party, Ladbrokes and William Hill amongst their members.

The Grosvenor Victoria Casino in London contains arguably one of the most famous poker rooms in the UK. It has hosted countless major tournaments including the GUKPT Grand Final and EPT London. Though the other Grosvenors around the country don't boast such renown, they all promise the same quality and service for poker players.
You can claim a £40 bonus online for visiting a Grosvenor Casino in the flesh, but if you're a strictly brick 'n' mortar man then you won't be losing out. Grosvenor Casinos (or G Casinos) can be found throughout the UK with over 50 to choose from in England, Scotland, and Wales - suffice to say, if you're in the UK then you probably have a local Grosvenor Casino.
Poker players are quite spoiled for choice, too: cash games run around the clock from £1/£1 to £5/£10 (No Limit and Omaha), with the Big Game at "The Vic" running to £50/£100 when enough high rollers are in town. What's more, Grosvenor boasts one of the best and most varied poker tournament schedules with low-to-medium stakes tournaments running all week, all year round at their casinos.
