Ok few initial thoughts:

+ the style is amazing, it’s bright and colourful but some colours can be a bit too vibrant and harsh so you may need to adjust settings slightly.

+ Brian Blessed with a dodgy Russian accent.

+ the lair building is fun but has a few drawbacks.

+ the sound design is spot on. + So far it seems a nice relaxed game and perfect to chill out to.

The few irks I have:

- I don’t like the world map side of things. Open the world map, click a scheme, come back in 5 minutes. It feels like a mobile game.

- Speaking of mobile games, the building does have a downside in that it takes a while to complete for no real reason. Unlike in say Two Point Hospital or most other management sims where you drag out the blueprint for the room and then viola it appears, in this you have to wait for minions to go to the area, start blasting rock to make the room, then go to storage to fetch whatever furniture you’ve selected, then bring it back to the room to place it...it’s a lot of needless time wasting. - the game doesn’t do a great job of explaining the building process I.e don’t make rooms too big too early, leave room for corridors, darker rock means you can’t dig through it. There’s a risk you’ll build yourself into a corner where you’ve got to build something but don’t have any way to link it to a corridor or you’ve made a room needlessly big (I’m looking at you, control room!) and now because you can’t dig through the darker rock you only have small or oddly shaped room options left

- I’m not a huge fan of minions not coming back from missions. It’s particularly weird because each minion has personality traits and a little backstory but it’s pointless. I’d prefer it if they could return and maybe rank up or something like the soldiers in cannon fodder (RIP Jools and Jops) - maybe they’d complete tasks more quickly or need less rest or something as a reward for keeping them alive through multiple schemes. There should be a chance they’d be killed, captured or betray you but as is they go on the mission and never return.

- I don’t think the casino you use as a front to your operations is a huge part of the game, other than being there for the sake of it, which feels like a missed opportunity. There doesn’t seem to be any management sim gameplay to the casino from what little I’ve seen, it’s just...there. If the front isn’t used for anything gameplay wise it would have been cool to have options on what to use in addition to casino, such as a hotel, or spa or something.

That makes it sound like I don’t like it and that’s not true because I really do and I can’t wait to play more tomorrow, but there are a few very minor niggles that don’t yet make it the classic I was hoping for.
