Getting Started on Android

After installing the app and connecting it with my Trend Micro account, I found the Scan button at the top tinted orange, with a note below saying I had 9 things to fix. Tapping that note led me to a page of instructions organized into the categories Security, Privacy, and Insight.

Under Security, the app encouraged me to enable Web Guard, Fraud Buster (called Email Defender in desktop versions), Wi-Fi Checker, Pay Guard Mobile, and Parental Controls. Turning on these features requires granting a variety of Android permissions, but I like the fact that you see exactly why the app needs each permission. The Web Guard onboarding process even includes a link to see what happens when Web Guard blocks a dangerous page. Parental Controls turned out to consist of App Lock and a device-wide content filter, appropriate if you’re setting up protection on a child’s phone. If you don’t want the app nagging you to set up Parental Controls you can tap a link to ignore it.

Under Insight, the app offered to set up Security Scan Notifications and to run in the background for protection. Finally, under Privacy the app encouraged me to set up Lost Device Protection, which I’ll describe below. Once I completed those tasks, the main screen’s Scan button displayed a serene green. Tapping that button launched a malware scan, which finished in mere seconds.

Below the scan button, the app's main window scrolls to reveal panels representing nine main security components: Security Scan, Web Guard, Fraud Buster, Wi-Fi Checker, Pay Guard Mobile, System Tuner, App Manager, Parental Controls, Social Network Privacy, and Lost Device Protection. A Features item at the top of the list takes you on a tour of the app’s features.

Tapping Security Scan shows you settings for the malware scanner. There's a slider to change overall protection from the default Normal to High or Low, and checkboxes to enable real-time protection and memory card scanning. This is also where you configure updates and check scanning history, if you're so inclined.

You'll notice a different kind of scanning when you visit the Google Play store. Like Norton’s Android protection, Trend Micro scans the apps you look at and quickly reports whether they're safe. Given that malicious apps routinely slip past Play Protect, this is a very handy feature.

Section 6: Valid Stakes, Bets or Wagers

You may stake up to the amount of the balance available in your Account. We do not offer Accounts with a credit facility.

Winnings which are generated from promotional bonuses will go into your Bonus Credit Account.

When a bet or stake is placed and confirmed, the corresponding amount is deducted from your Account balance.

Once your Bonus Credit Wagering Requirement Balance is £0, any remaining Bonus Credit will automatically be transferred as winnings to your Cashable Credit account.

In the event that you withdraw Cashable Credit before you have met your Bonus Credit Wagering Requirement (i.e. before your Bonus Credit Wagering Requirement Balance is £0) your Bonus Credit and Bonus Credit Wagering Requirement will be reduced by the same percentage that you have withdrawn from your Cashable Credit. By way of example only: you have made a first deposit of £10, credited to your Cashable Credit account, and received a first deposit match bonus of £10, credited to your Bonus Credit account; your Bonus Credit Wagering Requirement Balance is £400 (i.e. 40 x bonus of £10); you play through your £10 deposit once on a slots game and win £50. Your Bonus Credit Wagering Requirement Balance is unchanged (as you have not yet staked any Bonus Credit); you are free to withdraw the £50 winnings, stored in your Cashable Credit account, but you choose to only withdraw £25 (i.e. 50%); as your Bonus Credit Wagering Requirement Balance is not yet £0, you will forfeit 50% of your Bonus Credit (reducing it to £5) and your Bonus Credit Wagering Requirement Balance will be reduced by 50% (reducing it to £200).

In the event that you stake both Cashable Credit and Bonus Credit, any winnings will be applied proportionately to your Cashable Credit and Bonus Credit accounts and your Bonus Credit Wagering Requirement Balance will be reduced only by the amount of Bonus Credit used. By way of example only: you have deposited £5, credited to your Cashable Credit account, and have received a first deposit match bonus of £10, credited to your Bonus Credit Account; your Bonus Wagering Requirement is £400 (i.e. 40 x bonus of £10); you elect to stake £10 on a slots game; as you do not have enough Cashable Credit to cover your stake, the remaining £5 (50%) will be deducted from your Bonus Credit and your Bonus Credit Wagering Requirement Balance will be reduced by £5 to £395; you win £50; £25 of your winnings (i.e. 50%) will be credited to your Cashable Credit account; and £25 of your winnings (i.e. 50%) will be credited to your Bonus Credit account.

When betting on our betting and gaming products, the percentage of your stake that will contribute to the Bonus Credit Wagering Requirement is as follows:

A Cornucopia of Android Features

Web Guard is the mobile app's component to keep you away from malicious or fraudulent websites. As with the main malware scan, you can crank it higher or lower than the default level, but I'd leave that setting alone. On my test Android, it automatically applied protection to Facebook, Instagram, Messages, Gmail, Messenger, and Chrome. Additional protection using local VPN technology is available, but disabled by default. On my test Android it offered to protect Google News and Meet.

Enabling Wi-Fi Checker triggered a scan of my local Wi-Fi hotspot. Not surprisingly, it reported no security risks found. It did suggest I download VPN Proxy One Pro for protection when using unsecured hotspots. After download, it became clear that this was a 7-day trial, and that continuing after the trial would require a separate subscription.

Pay Guard Mobile proved interesting. On the PC and Mac, Pay Guard is a protected browser that you use to protect your personal finance transactions online. The Android edition works differently. When you launch a banking app or other protected app, it checks that the environment is safe, scanning the Wi-Fi connection, the device, and the app itself. I don't do banking on my Android test device, but Pay Guard did add the Amazon app and PrimeNow to its protected list, as well as PayPal and GPay.

Like the PC Health Checkup on Windows, the System Tuner app aims to optimize your device's performance, but its goals are a bit simpler. To start, it frees up unused memory, reporting how much it freed and how much battery life you gained. You can also use the App Freeze feature to force selected apps to stop all at once. Also in the system performance arena, the App Manager lists all your apps along with the resources they're using. If necessary, you can bulk-uninstall apps, or reversibly disable pre-installed apps.

Under Parental Control you'll find a dual approach. App Lock lets you lock up any apps you wouldn't want triggered while your kid is playing with the phone. By default, it just locks Settings; you’ll probably want to add Mail, social media apps, and shopping apps at a minimum. Unlocking requires your fingerprint or Trend Micro password. Bitdefender, Norton 360 Deluxe, McAfee, and others offer a similar App Lock capability.

The parental Website Filter blocks access to inappropriate websites matching the selected age: Child, Pre-teen, or Teen. You can also configure specific categories for blocking to create a custom profile. I was pleased to see that the content filter handles HTTPS websites, so a clever child couldn't disarm the filter by using a secure anonymizing proxy.

The Windows and macOS editions include a Social Network Privacy scanner that checks for configuration problems in Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. When I tapped this feature on my test Android, it reported itself unavailable “due to a Facebook update.”

Extra Juicy Slot Review: Conclusion

At first glance, the slot did not really give a very pronounced impression. It looked just really mediocre. Visually, it’s nothing too spectacular and the fruit-theme can truly mislead. But after paying some time for this game and doing the math, this slot appears really good. The maximum multiplier potential is really what will make most players spend their time with this game. Chasing the progressive free spins is, however, what’s really worth the time. Don’t be fooled by the looks of this slot and give it a shot when it comes out.
