❗ What are the rules of blackjack?
All you have to do is beat the house by getting a hand with a higher total value, whilst not going over 21, which is called busting. A blackjack – an ace and a ten-point card (10s, jacks, queens, kings) is also 21 points, but will beat any 21 hand in most blackjack variants out there. Read the full rules.
Blackjack Table
Blackjack tables all look fairly similar; they’re usually shaped as a semicircle with the players sitting at the arch and the dealer on the other end. While mobile blackjack is a little different, you’ll still sit at a table with betting circles and the game’s payout terms.
What’s more, with online blackjack, you should see a stack of chips at the bottom of the screen you can select from and place on the blackjack table to designate your bet. You’ll also have buttons for each corresponding blackjack action. However, you should note that the way these options are presented will differ between games.
Conclusion
Blackjack Switch is one of the best blackjack variations you can choose to play online not only because of its low house edge but also because of the unique experience it offers. If you’re looking for something more than the standard blackjack version, we would definitely recommend you claim one of the bonuses we mentioned above and start playing right away!
Going bust
When a player or the dealer’s hand exceeds a total of 21, this is known as ‘busting’ or ‘going bust,’ with the term “break” occasionally used when the dealer’s hand exceeds 21. If you go bust, you lose.
About the Game
Zappit was invented by Geoff Hall, the same man who invented Blackjack Switch – another quirky version of the blackjack where two hands are played simultaneously and the cards can be swapped between the hands to make better ones.
The game is owned and distributed by Scientific Games and has been made available both online and in selected local casinos, although the rules to seem to differ between the physical and virtual versions – with the real life version of the game able to zap on 18 and also including extra features such as the Kings Bounty side bet and the Cash Spin Bonus.
European blackjack
Seen as the obvious predecessor to the version of blackjack that has now become commonplace around the world, this version is played between the dealer and one player.
The objective remains to get a hand of 21 or as close to that number as possible to win, with cards from 2 to 9 scored at face value, 10s and picture cards are each valued at 10 while the Ace can be one or 11. Perhaps the biggest difference is that both cards are dealt to the player face down, rather than with the top one face up as is now customary.
Super Match
The small circle between the standard bet areas is the super bet area. The super bet wins if your initial 4 cards contain 2 or more matching cards. For example, if your right hand is a Queen and a Six, and your left hand a Queen and a King, you have a pair and your super bet wins. The win ratios are written on the table.
Stand
This is when you opt not to be dealt another card. If you have a strong first hand – such as a pair of 10-value cards for a score of 20 – then this is your most likely option.

If you’ve ever played blackjack in cryptocurrency casinos, you should be able to take up double exposure blackjack quickly. Each round adheres to the same format as the traditional version. First, bets are placed, then the cards are dealt, and finally, each seated player decides how much money they want to wager on the round.
Double exposure is unique in that the dealer must expose both of their opening cards at once. The dealer wins when a hand is tied, and you lose your bet. This is termed a “Push” among punters in cryptocurrency casinos.
This version of the game does not allow for the purchase of insurance. This restricts the player’s possibilities for winnings. Custom rule sets may also be implemented for each table to limit the hands that may be doubled down or adjust certain conditions for splitting.
Shuffling
For the most part, online casinos shuffle the cards after every hand, rendering card counting impossible. Those that use a cut card on multi-deck games reshuffle once around 50% of the cards have been used, but players should always check a site’s instructions or rules for information on when the cards are reshuffled before starting a game.

Why play blackjack?
As blackjack grew in popularity, people began to play at home and even making movies about it. Why was it so popular?
The Number of Splits Allowed
This difference is one of the most obvious when playing Bitcoin blackjack. While you can split up to three times in the American version, the European counterpart only allows one split per hand in gameplay.
Now that you have seen some key differences let’s go ahead with the best BTC blackjack variants you can play.
Having a Strategy and Calculating Stake Size
A really important part of the process is making stakes of the right size. You want to maximise your long term profits and don’t want to take any more risks than necessary. Before starting an offer make sure you have a clear strategy and stay organised: write the offer down and know the steps to proceed.
For sports betting it is important to calculate which size stakes to make both for backing and laying your qualifying bet, but also your free bets. There seem to be free calculators you can use, though I can’t attest to their quality.
Assistance for all of these topics are provided by matched betting subscription services which are covered in the next section.
Card counting legends
As you may be aware, card counters tend to work in teams to maximise their advantage. And a number of inductees into the Hall of Fame have 'earned' their place through their work in these teams.
Al Francesco, one of the founding fathers of counting teams. He was among the inaugural inductees alongside Ken Uston, a vocal defender of the rights of card counters who has sued Atlantic City casinos in the past. Also hailed as a legend is Tommy Hyland who famously managed his own team of card counters.
The 2019 inductee was Rob Reitzen, a modern blackjack guru. He's believed to have won more money playing the game than anybody else. A card counter, shuffle sequencer and algorithm specialist, Reitzen once won more than $500,000 in a single weekend from Caesars Palace. He was also a founding member of the CORE player-banking operation.
Getting to Know Blackjack Switch
It's easy to see why online blackjack switch attracts legions of loyal fans. Even though the game is relatively new, who would want to pass up the opportunity to swap cards between hands?
Blackjack Switch Rules At A Glance
1
The game is based on traditional blackjack.
2
You are required to place two equal bets.
3
The dealer only plays a single hand.
4
The dealer will typically hit on a soft 17.
5
You can swap your second cards between hands.
6
Doubling is available on any 2 cards and after splits.
7
Blackjack typically pays 1:1 rather than 3:2
8
A dealer 22 pushes all non-busted hands except natural blackjack.
9
Many versions of the game offer optional side bets.
For the best online blackjack switch experience, you'll want to be at least loosely familiar with original version of the game. As you should be able to guess, the key difference in this variation is that you'll have the opportunity to switch or move cards between your two hands. Keep in mind that you will need to play two hands and you can only switch the second card in your hand. For example, if your hands are 7-10 and A-8, you can swap the 10 and 8 to give you 21 on the second hand. Of course, blackjack switch casino players can hit, stand, and double just like in ordinary versions of the game.
Whether you play offline or at casino online, UK players should be aware of some important rule changes. UK casino card fans will notice that blackjack pays even money. In addition, if the dealer has 22, your non-busted hands will push rather than win. The only exception is if you have a natural blackjack. Keep this in mind before betting all your money.
Blackjack switch turns the classic card game on its head by letting you swap cards between your hands.
When playing at online casinos, UK players can also take advantage of an optional side bet. You'll find bonuses for landing a pair, three of a kind, two pairs, or 4 of a kind. The payouts do vary by online casino. UK casino sites typically display the odds on the table.
Casino Offers
Along with sports offers, the second main type of offers come from casinos. Just like bookmakers, casinos offer promotions both for new and returning users. In fact, a lot of bookmakers also run casinos, including our previous example of Ladbrokes.
Casino offers include slot machines and table games like blackjack. I actually prefer casino offers to sports offers, in part because you can progress with them easily at any hour of the day (without waiting for physical sporting events to play out) but also because the rewards can be higher.
Blackjack guide - Blackjack Switch
Variations of the game
It is worth taking time here to explain that there are many different versions of the game around the world. Here are a few of them:
12 against dealer 4
A total of 12 going against a dealer’s 4 is another hand where the right strategy is dependent upon the makeup of the cards in a player’s hand because there are five different ways to be dealt that total.
If it is a pair of sixes of course the answer is to split them, while with a 10-value card and a two the correct approach would be to hit, while in the other three cases (9-3, 8-4, and 7-5) a player should stand. This is because by having even that one 10-value card in your hand, it reduces the chances of receiving another one and therefore going bust enough to make taking the hit on a 10-2 hand a worthwhile opportunity.
Avoid Betting Systems like the Martingale
You might find blackjack guides encouraging to use betting strategies like the Martingale. This system requires you to double your previous stake for every losing bet you make.
Contrary to what these guides tell you, this system can be a dangerous one that quickly burns through your bankroll.
Our Recommendation
We suggest you avoid such a high-risk strategy and practice good bankroll management instead.
Glossary of terms
Here it makes sense to stop for a moment and explain some basic terms you will come across as you begin to play blackjack:
House Edge – Blackjack Switch vs Blackjack Odds
The different online casino software providers have different interpretations of what a ‘classic’ or ‘normal’ blackjack game is. If you look at NetEnt’s Blackjack, the theoretical return-to-player percentage is 99.75% while for Playtech’s Blackjack it is 99.53%. And still, that’s nowhere near the 99.87% of RTP offered by Blackjack Switch. That means that when you play this variation of the game with perfect strategy, the house edge is only 0.13%. In fact, as you can see in the chart below, Blackjack Switch is Playtech’s most advantageous blackjack game.
Theoretical RTP of Playtech’s Blackjack Games
The only ‘classic’ variation of blackjack you can find online that offers an RTP percentage that high is Microgaming’s Classic Blackjack. In fact, the game has the same house edge as the one of Blackjack Switch – 0.13%. Therefore, if you prefer to play the normal version of the game rather than Blackjack Switch, you can pick any operator from our list of the best Microgaming casinos on the UK market and enjoy a more ‘classic’ blackjack with the same theoretical return.
Player Rules
Now that we have cleared the do’s and don’ts of blackjack etiquette, let’s take a second to discuss the actual rules of this fascinating game. There are many variations of blackjack but shoe games normally prevail over pitch games. The name is derived from the shape of the card dispenser the cards are dealt out of, which used to bear a close semblance to a woman’s high-heel shoe back in the day.
In shoe games, the player is in full view of their cards (have both cards facing up), and multiple decks are in play, with the number ranging between four and eight. After each player at the table is dealt their two cards, they need to evaluate the strength of their hand and decide how to act on it. As I explained in the beginning, the main premise of blackjack is to get a hand total that is higher than that of the dealer and close to 21 but without exceeding it.
A blackjack pays 3 to 2 in most casinos whereas all other winning bets (save for insurance) return even money, meaning that if you bet $25 and win, you will record a net profit of $25. Blackjack players have several options after the start of a coup.
