Advantages of Playing Blackjack Online

Unsure whether you should play online or land-based blackjack? Check out these advantages when playing online!

Claim a Blackjack Bonus

Unlike land-based casinos, you can enjoy blackjack bonuses that increase your bankroll and allow you to play with more value for money.

Expect to get bonuses that go up as high as $1000!

Stay Comfortable

Why get dressed and venture to the nearest casino when you can do it from the comfort of your home?

There’s no dress code, you don’t need to pay an entrance fee, and there’s no need to drive. These are all pros in our book!

Play at Your Pace

You always have more pressure when you’re sitting across a dealer who’s waiting for your next move.

When playing online, the pressure is off and you can take all the time you need. You can also consult blackjack strategy charts to help you make the best decision.

Benefit from Better Payouts

Brick-and-mortar casinos need to cover the expenses of running a building. This is why online blackjack tends to have better payouts than land-based blackjack.

13. What about drinking while playing?

The complimentary drinks that casinos offer to players can be very tempting, but an old adage says that it's best not to mix alcohol and gambling. Blackjack is a game which can require great concentration on the player's part. Keeping track of the count and using perfect basic strategy are best done with a clear head. If you're a total rookie who is just out to play a few hands during your vacation, wait until after your playing session has ended before having those Mai-Tais. Even if you aren't employing advanced strategies, you'll still want to have good focus on bankroll management. It's easier to avoid getting carried away, and you'll feel better about it when you do finally kick back.

How to Play Blackjack

You now know what to look out for when searching for blackjack sites, but how do you actually play the game?

The various blackjack terms might be confusing at first, but blackjack is actually one of the easiest casino games to understand.

Take Note!

Unlike games like poker, a game of online blackjack is played against the dealer, and your objective is always to beat the dealer.

To do so, you need to reach the highest hand value without exceeding 21 points (hence the name 21). If you go over 21, you bust the game.

The cards have different values:

  • Aces are worth 1 or 11 points
  • Numbers from 2 to 9 are worth their numerical value. The 4 card adds 4 points, the 3 adds 3 and so on
  • The 10, Jacks, Queens and Kings are worth 10 points each.

As you would expect, some card combinations are better than others.

The strongest combination in this game is the Ace with a card worth 10 points. With this pair, you reach 21 points and win that round!

This card combination is the coveted ‘natural blackjack’ and is what gives the game its name.

If you are dealt a natural blackjack, you automatically WIN that round! You will also get a bigger payout, as we will see later on.

Now that we’ve got the basics over with, let’s see how a round of blackjack plays out:

15 against a dealer 10

The basic strategy chart shows that you should surrender on 15 against a dealer’s 10 up card, but once again a more advanced player can alter that approach and push the chance of winning even further in their favour.

If the 15 is an 8-7 then you should hit rather than surrender because you have already removed an eight and a seven from play, taking away two of the cards that would make your hand go bust. This means that continuing with the hand is the better option and a player would lose less money in the long run when making this slight adjustment.

Never split 10s

You’re already on 20 which is tough to beat, why spoil your chances by splitting them?

10bet’s Ultimate Guide to playing Blackjack 19

The rest is the same!

That’s about it in terms of the real differences between the two games, the normal rules will apply to the rest of the game.

You can still double down on two cards and split, and we would recommend the normal advice of hitting on the low pairs and stand from 17 upwards, no matter what the dealers up card is.

Similarly, always split aces! But we’re sure you knew that anyway.

When it comes to paying out, you will get evens for blackjack and a winning insurance pays 2:1.

So, there you have it, next time you see Blackjack Switch you will now know what it’s all about, so try it out. The chance to switch your cards allows you to have much better control over your hands and this gives you more chance of winning. Yet that doesn’t compromise on the exciting and unpredictable nature that normal blackjack brings, so enjoy. Good luck!

If you’ve ever played blackjack in cryptocurrency casinos, you should be able to take up double exposure blackjack quickly. Each round adheres to the same format as the traditional version. First, bets are placed, then the cards are dealt, and finally, each seated player decides how much money they want to wager on the round.

Double exposure is unique in that the dealer must expose both of their opening cards at once. The dealer wins when a hand is tied, and you lose your bet. This is termed a “Push” among punters in cryptocurrency casinos.

This version of the game does not allow for the purchase of insurance. This restricts the player’s possibilities for winnings. Custom rule sets may also be implemented for each table to limit the hands that may be doubled down or adjust certain conditions for splitting.

How does it differ?

The notable difference that is involved in Blackjack Switch is that you are dealt two hands per game. During the game you are allowed to switch the second card from both hands if that will give you a better hand overall. If it doesn’t, don’t do it. Pretty simple.

Obviously that is of great benefit to the players, as you can work out the ways and give yourself the best possible way to win. This is why the house edge of this game is down at just 0.17% because of the six to eight decks involved.

However, there is another difference that if the dealer gets a hand of 22 then this is a push and not a bust. Yet, if you get a blackjack you will still beat a dealer who has 22.

The dealer will also always hit on a soft 17 hand.

Blackjack Switch

This is a Blackjack game that is rumoured to have been invented to fulfil the cheat’s habit of switching cards. Basically players play multi-hand Blackjack with 2 hands, so there are 2 separate bets one for each hand. After the dealer has dealt, the player is then allowed to switch the second card dealt from one hand to another.

  • If the dealer busts at 22, all hands still in play are a push
  • Player Blackjack bets the dealer 22
  • There are 6 to 8 decks played in this variant
  • 2 hands and 2 bets need to made every round
  • Dealer hits on soft 17 (Although not in all casinos)
  • Dealer peeks when the face-up card is a 10 or an Ace
  • Blackjack ties are pushed
  • Players can swap their 2nd card with the 2nd card in the other hand
  • Doubles are permitted on any 2 cards and on splits
  • Re-splits are permitted up to a maximum of 4 times
  • Blackjack is paid at even odds

Other rules may apply such as early surrender is said to be allowed in some Russian games, and dealer stands on 17 in some Canadian venues.

21 duel blackjack

This game is a mixture of two iconic games: regular blackjack and Texas Hold ’em. The objective remains the same in that players win by reaching a total of 21 (or as close to it as possible) but there are also community cards like the river in Texas Hold ‘em.

This pair of cards are available to both the players and the dealer who can use them to strengthen their own hand, substituting one of them for the face-down card they were originally dealt.

December 5, 2019 - Which Bookie

While slot machines and online slots in virtual casinos are perhaps the most accessible of casino games, it’s fair to say that one of the most widely played table games in the world is Blackjack.

There are a number of reasons for this. It’s easy to learn the rules, the fast pace of the game, the low house edge, and the fact that there is an element of skill required to win. This makes it extremely appealing to gamblers of all ages.

In all forms of Blackjack, the end goal is exactly the same. You must try to reach a total of 21 or a higher total than the casino dealer, without going bust.

As simple as the game is, there are different types of Blackjack. And those differences can be seen in the rules. Altering certain ones will allow a casino to increase its edge over the player, sometimes quite dramatically.

European blackjack

Seen as the obvious predecessor to the version of blackjack that has now become commonplace around the world, this version is played between the dealer and one player.

The objective remains to get a hand of 21 or as close to that number as possible to win, with cards from 2 to 9 scored at face value, 10s and picture cards are each valued at 10 while the Ace can be one or 11. Perhaps the biggest difference is that both cards are dealt to the player face down, rather than with the top one face up as is now customary.

GIMMICK GAMES

A corollary to ‘short pay’ blackjack is the growth of ‘gimmick games’ at some casinos. Casinos love ‘gimmick games’ because they can advertise rules that sound ‘player friendly’ on the surface but in reality screw the player in some way or another.

A perfect example:

The so-called ‘Blackjack Switch’ game found at some Nevada casinos.

Here’s how it works:

a player must play two hands (this in itself isn’t a good idea unless you’re a very adept player) but after the initial deal he can switch one card with the other hand.

Now…

…if you’re trying to figure out the math for this variation don’t bother—it doesn’t matter due to the other ‘screw the player’ rules for this game. Blackjack only pays 1-1 and a dealer bust on 22 is a ‘push’. Combined, these two rules give the house an additional edge of approximately 9.5%!
